Metropolis becomes a 'knowledge partner' for Casa Asia
On 16 April, Metropolis and Casa Asia signed a collaboration agreement that sets out the details of our association's involvement in the programmes and activities carried out by Casa Asia with Asian metropolises. As a knowledge partner, Metropolis will now be a key player in the Asia Innova technological cooperation programme, which this year will focus on innovative urban management in Asia and Europe.
Casa Asia is a public consortium that was founded in 2001 by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council and Madrid City Council. Among its general objectives, it aims to encourage actions and projects that lead to a better understanding, and closer relationships of all kinds, between societies in the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and Spain. In addition, Casa Asia promotes Barcelona and Madrid as meeting points between those societies, encouraging an institutional, business, cultural and social approach.
In fact, Metropolis was already a partner for the Asia Innova programme in 2017, which brought experts from Asian and European cities to Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona in order to study potential international cooperation opportunities in terms of urban planning and sustainability. During 2018 and 2019 there will be even closer collaboration links, in order to encourage greater participation from Metropolis' 66 member cities in Asia.
