Mashhad hosts International Conference on Urban Planning and Management
Between last April 24 and 26, Mashhad hosted an International Conference on Urban Planning and Management. The event was conducted by the International Scientific Cooperation Office of the Municipality of Mashhad (ISCO), in conjunction with the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. More than 300 participants, including academic figures, university students, urban experts, city managers and decision makers attended the 3-day program to take advantage of the new approaches in urban management and planning, establishing the frameworks for increasing the interaction between private sectors and urban management at the national and international levels and transferring experience.
The event was held at a conference hall of the faculty of Science of the Ferdowsi University, in view of promoting a better connection and interaction between speakers and participants and providing a more intimate experience.
The conference built up on the knowledge generated by a preliminary workshop held by ISCO about smart cities. This workshop gathered 92 participants (including 22 urban managers and experts from Bangladesh, Germany, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan and Portugal), and was led by the guest speaker Dr. Frans Anton Vermast, Strategy Advisor & International Smart City Ambassador at Amsterdam Smart City.
