Gaziantep-World-Metropolitan-Day

World Metropolitan Day in Gaziantep

Fatma Şahin, in her capacity as Mayoress of the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, will host this World Metropolitan Day event with the objective of sharing ideas and participating in debates to improve metropolitan governance and make metropolitan challenges and opportunities a priority on the world stage.

Recognizing that the 2019 Metropolitan World Day campaign focuses on the implementation of specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the metropolitan scale, Gaziantep will host an event dedicated to the progress made on the following SDGs in its metropolitan space:

  • 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
  • 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

 

Participants

The World Metropolitan Day celebrations in Gaziantep will bring together:

  • 15 representatives from the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality
  • 6 representatives from Metropolitan Sub-Provincial Municipalities
  • 6 representatives from Governmental Institutions and Organizations in Gaziantep
  • 5 representatives from the academic sector
  • 2 representatives from the private sector
  • 16 representatives of organizations and associations
