On the framework of the World metropolitan day, the Strategic Metropolitan Plan of Barcelona along with the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona will organize the course: The future of metropolitan governance: policies, partnerships and co-production' 

The course will consist of two parts: a first part on the state of the question of metropolitan governments and a second part focused on anticipating what metropolitan policies should look like for a future in which this level of government is presented as key to the welfare of citizens.

Recognizing that the 2019 Metropolitan World Day campaign focuses on the implementation of specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the metropolitan scale, the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona will host an event dedicated to the progress made on the following SDGs:
