The UCLG Peace Prize is a global award for local governments that implement successful initiatives in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, post-conflict reconstruction and reconciliation. For example, at the previous edition of the Peace Prize in 2016, the municipality of Kauswagan in the Philippines won with their  From Arms to Farms programme, working with (former) rebels to engage them in organic agriculture.

Applications for the 2019 edition are now open. The deadline to apply is 30 April. The shortlisted local governments will be invited to present their initiative during the World Congress of United Cities and Local Governments in Durban, South Africa, in November 2019. Besides worldwide exposure and recognition for the finalists, the winning local government will receive an award worth €20.000.
