This meeting comes at a critical time in the SNG-WOFI process, on the eve of the next edition that will be released in the summer of 2022. The meeting will provide participants with the opportunity to exchange with former and new members of the Steering Committee and project partners, and to discuss the outcomes and impact of the past editions of the initiative. The OECD and UCLG project teams will also present the forthcoming third edition, up-to-date research findings, new countries, and a revised methodology. This new edition will include a focus on the impact and management of the COVID-19 crisis and recovery at the subnational level.

During the meeting, we will also review the next steps of the project and the outreach and dissemination strategy. Steering Committee members will have the opportunity to share their views on the relevance of the World Observatory for sharing knowledge and supporting dialogue on subnational finance and multi-level governance. The strategies to increase its impact will be also discussed.

 Metropolis has been invited to this meeting to provide a contribution to the development of the strategic vision and steering of the work of the World Observatory for its new and third phase. Octavi de la Varga, Metropolis Secretary General, will be a speaker at the session ‘Looking ahead: How to increase the impact of the World Observatory’, sharing his views on how to increase the visibility, dissemination and impact of the Observatory's work.
