The Atlas of the Human Planet 2020 – Open Geoinformation for Research, Policy and Action will be launched on Thursday Jan 21 from 3pm CET.

The Atlas of the Human Planet 2020 collects contributions from more than 100 users of the Global Human Settlement Layer data sets among decision-makers, researchers, and practitioners.

The event will feature presentations delivered by the authors of the showcases in the thematic areas of Disaster Risk Management, Urbanisation, Development, Environment, and Sustainability.

One of the showcases of the Atlas is dedicated to our African Metropolitan Report, where the Global Human Settlement Layer data sets were used, along with our metropolitan indicators, in the analysis of metropolisation processes in the continent. Michael Sutcliffe, co-author of the African Metropolitan Report, will be one of the speakers of the session next January 21.
